Specific Sport/Activity Rules

Golf

1.      Physical and parental permission forms must be on file before an athlete will be allowed to practice.

2.      Training rules found in the current A-G activity handbook relating to tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, use of drugs, and minor in possession will be enforced.

3.      Anyone caught cheating on scores (in practice or competition) will be: first offense – suspended for two meets, second offense - dismissed from the team.  Failure to display proper golf etiquette and/or failure to know the rules of golf may result in similar consequences.

4.      If an athlete must miss a practice they need to discuss it with the head coach first.  Failure to do so may result in a two meet suspension.  More than one unexcused absence from practice or competition may result in being dismissed from the team.

5.      The following rules are for the safety of all those who play golf:

            a)  always make sure you clear your swing area before swinging any club.

            b)  never walk up behind someone who is swinging a club.

            c)  never walk in front of anyone swinging a golf club.

            d)  never throw your golf clubs.

            e)  when playing ‘ready golf’ always know who is hitting and where they are hitting from

            f)  make sure the group in front of you has cleared your landing zone before you hit (do not hit into the group in front of you).

6.      At meets and practice a collared shirt or a “nice” T-shirt with NO unpleasant or suggestive slogans on it and walking shorts (cuffed) or jeans are required.

7.      In order to letter an athlete must complete the season in good standing and 1) medal in a major meet or 2) participate in at least 50% of the varsity matches or 3) participate in at least 25% of the varsity matches and master all five of the AGHS golf skills.

8.      These rules do not supercede any district wide rules that already exist in the district handbook for extracurricular activities.  They are only specific rules, in addition to those already in existence, as they apply to golf.
