Community Relations
Participation by the
Public
Residents of the school
district are encouraged to take an active role in school affairs. Participation by the public, individually or
collectively, may include:
1.
Attendance at
open sessions of meetings of the board of education, including requests or
proposals submitted for inclusion on the agenda of regular meetings of the
board of education. (See 9365)
2.
Communication
with employees of the school district, with requests for information or with
suggestions about operations of the school district. (See 1150)
3.
Service as
members of advisory committees established by the board or by school employees
in the discharge of their duties.
4.
In volunteer
roles to assist in the operation of school approved and school sponsored
projects and activities, including the actual operation of classes and services
when employees deem such aid to be valuable.
The board and its
employees shall seek to give full consideration to both requests for
information and advice received from members of the public. The board reserves
the right, however, for itself and its employees, to exercise judgment within
the constraints of board policies and appropriate statutes in responding to
requests for information, advice, or volunteered services.
