Fund Raising

 

 

 

            The Superintendent shall implement regulations regarding organizations engaging in fund raising.  Student organizations shall engage in minimal fund raising and it should not interfere with instructional activities.  All funds raised shall be accounted for as per board policies.

Fund Raising

 

 

 

            All fund raising activities by organizations must be approved by the building principal in advance.  The principal will schedule the fund raising activity on the school calendar provided it meets the following requirements:

 

            A.  The request is made in writing

            B.  A purpose or use of funds is stated

            C.  A plan is proposed if future fund raising is necessary.

D.  No more than one (1) organization (K-12) is engaging in direct-selling or soliciting within the community at one time.

E.  A school building shall limit soliciting and selling to a one week period and only one soliciting or direct-sales fund raising project shall be scheduled in a month,

F.  The fundraising shall not interfere with the instructional program.

            G.  The organization shall have no other alternative to raise the necessary funds.

H.  All funds are deposited within the school accounts on the same day they are received by the sponsor.

I.  An organization may only engage in one direct sales campaign annually.

J.  In the case of sales projects, the building principal shall determine if a fundraising project is an indirect or direct sales.

 

Definitions - The following items shall be defined as listed for the purposes of implementing this regulation.

 

            Soliciting - The requesting of cash donations of community organizations, district residents or fellow students.

 

            Selling - To offer for sale an item or items for the purpose of earning a profit

 

            Direct Sales -  Those sales where students approach community members (including parents and patrons) directly to purchase items for the purpose of earning a profit.

 

            Indirect Sales -  Shall be those sales where the purchaser must initiate the purchase such as through a school store. Indirect Sales shall also include service projects, dinners, assemblies, show or other forms of fund raising in which the buyer is not solicited and participates on his or her own volition.
