Tuition Fees

The board may admit nonresident pupils, may determine the rate of tuition in accordance with statute, and may collect such tuition as provided by statute.

The board may, on an annual basis, establish guidelines for the admission of nonresident pupils.

The following shall be admission requirements in order to attend the Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools:

All students between the ages 5 and 20 as of October 15th of any school term, and who have not yet earned a high school diploma, will be admitted to the Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools if their parent or legal guardian is a resident of Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools district.  Students who are of majority age or who have been emancipated by the court and who are living within the district shall also be admitted.

Nonresident students will not be admitted, except as provided for by statute, unless the district has sufficient room within the grade or courses in which the student will be enrolled.  The nonresident student's parents, legal guardian or resident district shall sign a contract with the district prior to or as soon as possible after enrolling said student within the district.

The contract for enrollment will reflect costs for general and special education programs and transportation.  The charges for general education shall reflect the previous year's cost for elementary or secondary education plus seven percent.  The charges for special education program shall be based on the pupils FTE (full-time equivalency) in the special education program.  The district shall calculate the cost for one FTE in the special education program as per budget costs and the enrollment as of September 1.  The cost of one FTE shall be multiplied by the FTE of the enrolling nonresident student to ascertain the contracted special education cost of the nonresident pupil.

The district shall charge $50.00 a year for each additional stop on an existing bus route to accommodate nonresident pupils.
