District purchased equipment, materials, and supplies are property of the school district and are meant for the use of students and staff in order to carry out the mission of the district.  It shall be the general practice of the district not to loan equipment, materials or supplies off of school premises for other purposes.

The Superintendent or his/her designee may, however, from time to time loan equipment, materials or supplies provided:

            the equipment, materials and supplies are not going to be used by the district during the time of the loan;

            the period of the loan is brief;

            appropriate fees are charged for the damage to or consumption of the equipment, materials or supplies;

            the borrower is a district resident and agrees to be responsible for the borrowed items;

             loans are made as provided for by Nebraska statute.

The Superintendent and Building Principal, in their discretion, may loan books and other supplies to home schooled students if they are available.  The school district in no way will be required to purchase any materials or supplies for home schooled individuals. (Amended Feb 5, 1996)

The Superintendent or his/her designee shall implement this policy upon its adoption.  Any equipment, material or supply previously loaned shall be returned to the district by the end of the current school term.
