Security of
Buildings and Grounds
Buildings
and grounds are to be protected from fire hazards, intruders, abuse by
employees or members of the public given permission to use or rent buildings
and grounds, and the dangers of faulty equipment.
The
superintendent of schools, with the assistance of the maintenance supervisor
and the building administrators, shall have the authority to establish
administrative rules and regulations for the implementation of this policy.

Security of
Building and Grounds
The
administrator or supervisor shall be responsible for checking out and checking
in keys to school facilities for employees they supervise. Employees issued keys to the buildings are
personally responsible for them. Keys
should not be loaned to students or others except with permission of the
superintendent or a building principal.
If an employee wishes to allow other than authorized persons into the
school buildings the employee must accompany them to the school and remain
until the building is vacated and locked unless prior arrangements have been
made and approved by the Superintendent or building principal.
Some
buildings may be protected by building security systems. In those facilities the security system
should be disarmed during building operational hours. Generally building operational hours shall
be:
School year:
Monday through Friday
7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
(Except
Holidays)
Summer:
Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
(Except
Holidays)
Employees
may be provided security code access to arm or disarm security systems during
non-operating hours. Employees provided
security access shall be responsible to arm and disarm the system when using
the facility during non-operating hours.
Employees may not give the security access to other individuals.
Members
of the public who have completed a request to use school facilities will pay a
fee of $15 a day for the purpose of hiring school personnel to arm or disarm
the facility security systems during non-operational hours.
