Naming of Facilities

Saunders County School District Number One shall also be known as the Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools. Unless approved by the Board of Education otherwise, all facilities and schools shall carry the name Ashland-Greenwood.

The Board may approve other names for district facilities or schools. When determining other appropriate names the Board shall appoint a committee to consider any and all recommendations for the naming schools or facilities prior to any Board action.

The committee shall be made up of:

· (3 members) - Board’s Building and Grounds Committee

· (2 members) - General public appointed by the Board

The committee shall make considerations of names based on:

· Historic or geographic features of the area;

· Contributions of an individual or individuals to the school district;

· Neighborhoods or communities; or

· Other criteria and considerations that may be established by the Board.

In no case should a facility be named for an individual who is deceased until at least 24 months after the date of death.
