Drug and Alcohol Policy
and Drug Free Work Place
The Ashland-Greenwood Public
Schools recognized that the manufacture, use, possessions, distribution, or
being under the influence of a controlled substance, illicit drugs, or alcohol
illegally or improperly constitutes a hazard to the positive development of
students and employees and a substantial interference with school
purposes. The Ashland-Greenwood Public
Schools is determined to provide a drug-free and alcohol-free workplace.
1.
School district
employees are prohibited from the unlawful or improper manufacture, possession,
use, distribution, or being under the influence of a controlled substance,
illicit drugs, or alcohol.
2.
Disciplinary
sanctions up to and including termination of employment, any or all other duty
assignments and referral for prosecution will be imposed upon employees who
violated the aforementioned standards of conduct. Sanctions for violation thereof may include
the requirement that the employee complete an appropriate rehabilitation
program, reprimands, non-renewal, cancellation, or termination of contract of
employment and any and all other duty assignments.
3.
Employees shall
be advised through employee publications and/or employee handbook about this
policy and about drug and alcohol counseling and rehabilitation and re-entry
programs available to employees. Other
in-service type activities may be provided employees to assist in maintaining
compliance with this policy.
4.
Employees shall
be furnished a copy of this policy.
This policy supplements and
is in addition to all other policies, regulations, practices, procedures and
contractual provisions regarding or related to the improper or unlawful
manufacture, possession, use, distribution, or being under the influence of a
controlled substance, illicit drugs or alcohol.
