Student Performance Data and Local Assessment Policy

 

 

The school district will establish and maintain student performance data, which can be used, communicated and interpreted by the school and by the district.

 

The collection system shall lend itself to

 

1.                   A qualitative assessment of the education program of the district for purposes of reporting the overall status of the district and charting the growth of the pupils, grades, schools and subject areas from year to year.

 

2.                   Appropriate reports to the board.

 

3.                   Interpretation and use by the teachers, counselors and administrators to assist in and direct the teaching of students, the guidance and counseling of individual children, the development of a high quality curriculum, and the development of school improvement plans.

 

4.                   The collection of data in order to comply with reporting requirements from state and national governmental entities and regional accrediting agencies.

 

The Superintendent of Schools, or his or her designee, shall establish procedures for collecting data including what data is to be collected, how long the data is to be collected, for what purpose the data will be collected and who is responsible for the collecting.

Multiple types of data will be collected within the school district. 

 

The purpose of collecting data is:

 

Ø       To demonstrate to students they are learning

Ø       To demonstrate to teachers that they are making a difference

Ø       To inform teachers and guide instruction in the classroom

Ø       To be accountable to parents and the public

Ø       To assist in the placement of students

Ø       To guide the continuous school improvement process

Ø       To evaluate current curriculum

Ø       To comply with state and federal laws

Ø       To meet accrediting standards of state and regional accrediting institutions

Ø       To promote the school district

 

The charts below represent the types of data that will be collected and who shall be responsible for collecting the data.
