Students
Reporting to Parents
The board recognizes and
affirms the right of the parents or legal guardians of any pupil enrolled in
the schools of the district to information about the course of instruction in
which the pupil is enrolled, the methods of instruction employed in the course
in which the pupil is enrolled, and all information about the progress of the
pupil which is maintained by any professional employee charged with the
instruction or supervision of the pupil.
The board recognizes and
affirms the right of professional employees to schedule conferences with pupils
or parents in regard to reporting of pupil behaviors and progress in such a
manner as to avoid disruption of the learning process; it is further provided,
however, that professional employees are expected to respond in an expeditious
manner to provide reports about pupil progress to parents or legal guardians.
Rules, regulations and
procedures which are required or recommended for use by professional employees
in reporting to parents shall be stated in the handbook prepared by each
principal for the attendance center or centers supervised by the principal;
rules, regulations and procedures for reporting to parents shall be reviewed
and approved by the superintendent and the board as part of the annual review
of student handbooks specified by board policy (5100).
Any pupil or the parents
or guardians of any pupil shall have the right to a review of information
reported and the classroom or school records of the pupil in accordance with
statute and board policy (5100.5125).
