Awards of Achievement

 

 

 

Awards for achievement of pupils in any of the classes, courses or programs offered by the school may be made in accordance with such rules, regulations and procedures as are established by the princi­pal of each building and stated in the handbook prepared by each principal for the attendance center or centers supervised by the principal. All rules, regulations and procedures to be followed in determining or approving the issuance of awards for achievement shall be reviewed and approved by the superintendent and the board as part of the annual review of student handbooks specified by board policy (5100). Particular care should be exercised in the acceptance of awards for achievement provided by agencies engaged in commercial activities. The principal shall prepare guidelines for determination of whether or not awards from external agencies shall be accepted by the school and delivered to the student under the auspices of the school.
