Trips and Community Services
Field
trips are learning activities and are designed to extend classroom learning
into situations and locations that can not be provided in the classroom. Therefore, it is essential that field trips
be well planned and planned as learning experiences. As planned learning activities, filed trips
may be an introduction to instructional activities or a culminating activity.
Field
trips are not provided as rewards.
Therefore they are not to be planned with game or recreational
activities in mind.
Field
trips in to the community and immediate region are encouraged as supplemental
to classroom activities. Field trips of
considerable distance are discouraged whenever travel time and/or expenses exceed
time available for the learning activity or the quality of the learning
activity is not sufficient to balance the time and expenses.
The
scheduling and costs of field trips are budgeted for in advance, are to be
approved by building administrators, and paid for by the district.
The
superintendent is responsible for developing rules and regulations for approval
of local and out-of-town field trips.
