Evaluation of the Instructional Program

 

The superintendent of schools, as the curriculum director of the school district, shall establish and maintain, or cause to be established and maintained, a comprehensive plan for the evaluation of the instructional programs and curricula of the district.  This plan shall:

 

  1. Meet any guidelines for the evaluation of pupils, pupil progress, instruction or curriculum established by the State of Nebraska.

 

  1. Permit a qualitative assessment of the degree to which district goals and objectives are being met as well as a qualitative assessment of the degree to which students are mastering the specific objectives stated in curriculum guides established for the subject fields or objectives stated for the activities and services curriculum guides.

 

  1. Provide data for use in decision-making about additions, deletions, changes or refinements in curriculum content or instructional materials ad methodologies.

 

The comprehensive plan for evaluation of the instructional programs and curricula of the district may include tests administered to groups, individuals, or random samples of group populations; may include the organization, recording and analysis of behavioral data such as attendance, absenteeism., participation in activities, vandalism, etc.; may provide for comparison to other groups such as previous students enrolled in the school district and comparable populations of students at the state, regional or national level; may include assessment of achievement, aptitude, social adjustment or other measures of intellectual and personal development; and shall establish a K-12 scope and sequence for evaluation of pupil progress as well as a periodic schedule for review and evaluation of each curricular area.

 

Professional employees are expected to be able to interpret and use evaluation data in planning for the guidance, counseling and instruction of pupils; personnel management practices of supervision and in-service shall be directed toward providing professional employees with high levels of proficiency in the use of data for curricular and instructional planning and for the evaluation of pupil progress and curricular and instructional practices.
