Agenda
The
Ashland-Greenwood Public Schools Board of Education shall allow the
Superintendent to place some business items at its regular and special meetings
on a consent agenda. Items placed on the agenda are items that are considered
to be routine and non-controversial in nature. All items brought before the
Board of Education on the Consent Agenda are to be approved by a single motion.
Such requests shall include, but not be limited to:
·
Approval of the minutes
·
Proclamations, Resolutions and Certain Administrative
Reports
·
Payment of all claims (Except those for which a conflict of
interest may exist)
·
Renewal of on going contracts that the district has with
vendors and/or service providers.
·
Approval of Financial Reports
·
Other items that the President of the Board may request be included on the consent agenda.
The
Superintendent may briefly explain the item(s) being approved on the consent
agenda and members may ask questions about items on the consent agenda. Full
information about items on a consent agenda should be provided to the board in
advance in the board packet. Although members of the board may ask questions
about items on the consent agenda, once a motion is made to approve the items
on the consent agenda and the motion has been seconded a roll call vote shall
be taken without further discussion.
Any
Board Member has the prerogative to remove an item from the Consent Agenda for
further discussion. Any item removed from the consent agenda shall be taken up
later in the agenda at a time to be determined by the Board President.
Consent
agenda items are approved en masse by one vote of the Board; however, each item
within the consent agenda shall be separately recorded in the minutes. The
action to approve the items on the consent agenda shall have the same force and
impact and shall be binding as though each item had been voted on separately.
The
consent agenda is not intended to be a way to push things through
without proper discussion and debate. The Consent agenda should not be used for
decision items. The intent is to speed the operation of the board so that more
time can be spent on items requiring significant decision-making.
